The holiday season is here. Its is probably the most difficult time of the year to focus on training because we just want to have fun, eat a lot, enjoy the holiday spirit, and the company of our family. When we do choose to train during the holidays, time appears to be at its bare minimum. There are hard core athletes who hope the holidays mean time off work and more opportunity to train…as no one will argue. No one will argue the direct correlation between race results and the amount and quality of training. Hence we act like Pavlov’s dog when a day off work is near. Let’s not forget other important aspects influencing your results that may be founded more on theory than fact. While training can be measured and its results statistically correlated to your performance, the support of family is immeasurable. So how do you achieve work-life-train balance during year end holiday? How do you control the nervous crack-addicted-like itch to jump on your bike? DECEMBER 13, 2008: IRONMAN POT LUCK – FREE, Just bring a dish
Mark White has graciously volunteered to host this year Triathlon Connections Ironman viewing party. Mark has 3 TV from which to choose and can accommodate our viewing needs much better. The gathering will be a pot luck type event. Please bring an Appetizer, Main Dish, Side Dish, Salad, or Desert of your liking. The club will provide, water, soda, and juice. The date for the Ironman potluck is December 13th from 10:30 to 2:00 at 1504 BRIARCROFT ROAD in Claremont. Take the 210 Freeway to Towne Ave. in Claremont and go south. APRIL 10-12, 2009: WILDFLOWER TRAINING CAMP
The 2009 Wildflower training camp will be held at lake San Antonio on April 10 - 12. Accomodations and meals are included. The camp includes a review of the bike course on saturday morning followed by a run. On saturday afternoon we'll go for a lake swim. Sunday we review the run course, have lunch and head back. We all share a cabin with a lake view. This camp is limited to 12 athletes. NO Alcohol please. This is a training camp. This camp always sells out. Room is limited. Contact me at
